Toyota Customizing & Development released the teaser site for the new "GR 86" demo vehicles "GR 86 GR Parts Concept" and "GR Parts" on July 13.
The GR 86 GR Parts Concept is a vehicle that pursues a package that allows it to run fast without regard to regulations as a study car that can be utilized in the development of GR parts. It is designed to keep lap time on the circuit with power-up by customizing the mechanical tune and intake / exhaust system, optimization of body rigidity, weight reduction and improvement of aerodynamic performance.
The front wing emphasizes the original design of the base car, while ensuring front downforce with a large front wing and canard. The large inlet duct on the upper part of the grill has the image of a ram duct that can efficiently take in the engine by using the running wind pressure.
The wheel house outlet bleeds the air inside the Encopa upwards and prevents a large amount of air taken in from the front for cooling from overflowing under the floor. It is compactly arranged at both ends so as not to obstruct the clean wind flow on the upper surface of the vehicle toward the rear wing.
The over fender is widened by 43mm on one side to accommodate wide tires. The air outlet above the wheel arch exhausts the air inside the wheel house and contributes to the generation of downforce. In addition, the opening is larger than the standard air breather to enhance the effect.
The side skirts divide the air flow between the sides of the body and the underfloor to increase the ground effect. The air inlet and outlet in front of the rear wheel arch expel the air inside the wheel house by flipping the wind flow on the side of the body to the side just before the wheel arch, increasing the downforce.
Like the front, the rear bumper spoiler is widened by 43mm on one side and equipped with wide tires. The dog-ear shape with an edge behind the rear wheel arch clarifies the separation point of the side airflow, reducing drag and preventing handling runout. Equipped with a 4-piece sports muffler that focuses on improving exhaust efficiency and sound.
The GT wing narrows the wing chord length toward the wing tip like the main wing of an aircraft, and by setting the winglet, the wing tip vortice is suppressed to a small size and an efficient downforce is obtained. Cooperates with the rear diffuser with large vertical fins to generate powerful downforce.
The 19-inch forged aluminum wheels have deformed Y-spokes that resemble a truss structure to efficiently ensure in-plane rigidity. In addition, the deep cone shape ensures the required out-of-plane torsional rigidity while pursuing an extremely thin spoke cross section.
The theme of GR parts for the new GR 86 is "Stylish Street Sports". The entire vehicle is tuned at a high level from aerodynamics to maneuverability. We pursued handling that allows you to run comfortably from winding to city riding.
