An engine is often compared to a heart of a automobile. People who design a car and buy a car pay attention an engine performance. Today I'd like to review about engines.
TOYOTA / VVT-i engine
It's the short for Variable Valve Timing-intelligent system. This is one of famous engine control system. The system controls a timing of Intake valves with a computer and causes high power in low revolution and high revolution both with low fuel consumption. In 2014 the latest system VVT-iW was espoused to Lexus NX. The fuel consumption become better.
MAZDA / Rotary engine
Almost engines of Japanese cars are reciprocating engines. Only MAZDA had produced this type of engine for MAZDA cars on the market in Japanese car makers. The reciprocating engine works moving pistons up and down. But the rotary engine finish all process of intake, compressing, burning and exhaust in 1 rotation. The number of burning in 1 rotation is 2 times of reciprocating engine. So the rotary engine can causes higher power than a same cc reciprocating engine. In 2012 June, MAZDA finally closed the producing of the engine and then the rotary engine disappeared from the Japanese car market.
