On November 8, 2021, Mazda set up new special specification vehicles "Sports Appearance" and "Field Journey" for the core model "CX-5" and started accepting pre-orders on the same day.
The Sports Appearance and Field Journey announced this time are special specification vehicles developed to meet the diversified lifestyles and values of users. In each case, the basic specifications conform to the improved CX-5, which debuted on the same day. The features and prices of each model are as follows.
[CX-5 Sports Appearance]
A special specification car for "users who want a sporty feeling and urbanity". It is based on the 2.5-liter gasoline "25S" or the 2.2-liter diesel "XD."
Many of the exterior parts (front grille, signature wing, lower bumper, wheel arch, under-door garnish, door mirrors) have a glossy black finish and are fitted with black metallic 19-inch wheels. The front grille is accented with classic red, the body color of the original "Roadster." The interior also has a sporty mood with black leather seats, steering wheel, doors, and red stitching around the shift lever.

[CX-5 Field Journey]
Based on the 2 liter gasoline "20S" and 2.2 liter diesel "XD" 4WD vehicles, the design is reminiscent of the latest outdoor sports gear. Practicality is also emphasized.
In line with the new body color "Zircon Sand Metallic", underguard-style front and rear bumper lowers, door garnish, black outside mirror cover, and new dark metal design wheels are adopted. The grill is decorated with lime green accents.
As for the interior, seat stitching, piping, and air conditioner louvers are unified in lime green. The suede-like seat skin is hexagonally embossed to express the toughness of an SUV. In addition, the back of the two-piece floor board in the luggage compartment and the spare space under the floor are waterproof. Convenience in the outdoor scene is enhanced.
The driving mode selector set with the improvement of the CX-5 has an "off-road mode" dedicated to the "field journey". The slope of the road surface is determined, and the idling speed is changed between climbing and descending to obtain torque characteristics according to the road surface condition.
