Mitsubishi Motors announced on October 1, 2021 that it will adopt the more advanced vehicle motion integrated control system "S-AWC" in the plug-in hybrid model (PHEV) of the new "Outlander" scheduled to be released this winter.
In the evolved S-AWC, brake control for the left and right wheels, which was previously only for the front wheels, has been added to the rear wheels. It is said that it is possible to reduce the burden on the front wheels and maximize the capacity of the four-wheel tires in a more balanced manner.
In addition, seven drive modes are set according to the road surface conditions and driving style. Based on "normal" which is most suitable for normal driving on paved roads, "gravel" which balances maneuverability and running performance on unpaved roads and wet paved roads, vehicle behavior on slippery roads such as snowy roads In addition to the mode according to the road surface condition such as "snow" to stabilize, "power" when strong acceleration is required and "eco" which is eco-friendly and economical are prepared.
